Week 30

Operations Sector Launches workshops as part of the TFM Program

Over the past two weeks, Operations sector launched the “TFM: Learning” with series of workshops as part of the Technical Facilities Management Program. The workshops were launched under the patronage of Eng. Bader A. Allhieb, VP of Operations sector. During the workshops, Eng. Mohammed F. Al Qahtani briefly introduced the Technical Facilities Management Program and elaborated the efforts launched under the program together with operations partner “Hewlett Packard Enterprise”. He also highlighted the key functions and the benefits of the series of workshops, which will be delivered with representatives of various sectors attended for awareness.

  • The first set of workshops focused on Health, Safety and Environment Management based on OHSAS 18001 and were designed to create awareness of safety practices for work at STC sites and with plans to be conducted in the regions as well.  Delivered by Simon Beck BIFM MCMI a Consultant IFM, specialising in this project as the HSE lead for the program.
  • The second set of workshops focused on the newly established function for STC called “Critical Environment Management” that introduces better control and enhanced practices of the critical environment within the Data Centers and Technical Facilities. The workshops covered the guidelines and procedures for the “Critical Environment Work Authorization (CEWA)” and the new Space, Power and Cooling Management procedures and best practices for the Technical Facilities.

Several representatives from various sectors including Directly employed STC Staff, contractors’ and sub contractors, attended the workshops.

It is to be noted that the TFM program was conceptualized by STC to improve the stability and maturity of the Technical buildings and Data Centers.

Week 29

The roll out of 200plus documents continues.  I did some amendments to the HSE ppts and attended a number of meetings. I have continued to write a Market research package for the new potential client on the prospects of offering TIFM into the KSA building market.  Next week I am travelling to Damman and Abha on Sunday and Tuesday respectively to deliver the HSE training packages to the STC employees and the contractors.

Hello everyone from the KSA and the end of week 28

The roll out of 200plus documents continues to be issued to STC.  In addition I have now completed 75 HSE policy documents and forms based upon OHAS18001.  On Wednesday and Thursday I conducted two six hour HSE sessions to 80-100 managers and contractors of STC.  I have been writing a Market research package for the new potential client on the prospects of offering TIFM into the KSA building market.  After speaking with Lorna during the week, her boss is extremely interested in my proposal offering day rate FM consultancy services to a new hospital, here in Riyadh.  This will probably not start until mid August.

Week 27 in KSA

The roll out of 200plus documents continues to all the stakeholders.  Discussions and meetings have continued, as we are the preferred bidder on expanding what HPE TFM is offering full IFM for STC into the ever increasing KSA market.  I have completed putting together five HSE training sessions, that I will start delivering next week.  These sessions will start in Riyadh but will be travelling to the provinces’ in the coming weeks to deliver the sessions to the contract supervisors.

Week 26

The roll out of a number of documents continues.  Whilst I was back in the UK, discussions and meetings have continued on expanding what HPE TFM is offering full IFM for STC into the ever increasing KSA market.  It looks very promising.  This week I was putting together five HSE power point presentations, each to last four hours.  These will be used to brief all the stakeholders on TFM HSE policies and procedures.
The first draft of the Golf Clubs, Business Continuity And Emergency Planning was issued early last week.  Today I will complete the second version following receiving feedback to the first draft a couple of days ago.
